Opisthobranch of the Week Data
Taxonomy:
Berthella sp. 2 is considered to be very rare on Okinawa's main island as the above featured animal is the only one collected. The animal was collected from beneath a slab of coral rubble in an area of mixed sand and coral rubble during a mid-morning SCUBA excursion.
This small attractive pleurobranch is quite similar in appearance to B. stellata, but lacks the white cross-like mark in the center of the mantle and symmetrical white diagonal marks seen in most individuals of that species.
