Species Account:

The above featured animal is considered to be very rare on Okinawa as I have seen and collected only a single specimen. This is only the second Godiva sp. which I've seen/collected here on Okinawa (the other, Godiva sp. 2 was collected in 2ft of water at my normal SCUBA exit point, also at Seragaki). The featured animal was collected from 61m at approximately 8:30am from an area composed primarily of open sand where the area rapidly drops off into deep waters (100m +). There were occasional scattered pockets of coral rubble in shallow depressions in the sand; in one of these depressions the above Godiva sp. 1 was found, crawling on the upper surface of a small coral rubble fragment.
