Species Account:

Halgerda wasinensis is considered to be rare on Okinawa; I've collected only two specimens as of early March, 2000. In addition to the two collected animals, I've photographed seven others ranging between 6 and 41m of depth. I've also included a page containing two additional animals, illustrating a bit of the variation seen in the local populations.

Of the described species of Okinawan Halgerda, the only species similar to H. wasinensis is H. willeyi. However, the strong yellow reticulated ridges of H. wasinensis serve to separate the two species.
