Species Account:
Plocamopherus sp. 1 is considered to be very rare on Okinawa as I have seen and collected but a single specimen. The animal was found on the underside of a large slab of coral rubble as it was overturned. There are currently (late-Oct., 2004) three described species of Plocamopherus found in Okinawan waters,
P. ceylonicus, P. imperialis and P. tilesii.
