Species Account:
Plocamopherus sp. #3 is considered to be very rare in the waters of Okinawa's main island as I have seen and collected only the above featured specimen.
It was collected from an area of mixed sand and coral rubble during a mid-morning SCUBA excursion.
Previously I've featured several members of the genus Plocamopherus on these pages and as of the current date, there are several described and undescribed species reported from Okinawan waters. These featured animals are as follows:
P. ceylonicus
P. imperialis
P. tilesii
P. species 1
P. species 2
P. species 3 (the above featured animal)
